MR. G. J. J. BUCHANAN

Within an hour of the closing of the poll yesterday, Mr. G. J. J. Buchanan. Waitahora, who topped the poll in the county elections for the Dannevirke Power and Hospital Boards, suffered a stroke at his home and died almost immediately. Mr. Buchanan, who was about. 72 years old, took a keen interest in the work of the New Zealand Farmers' Union, the Young Farmers' Club of Southern Hawke's Bay, and in local body affairs. He was one of the earliest settlers in the Waitahora district, where he was well known and highly respected.
