N.S.W. ELECTION RESULTS

SYDNEY, May 15

Further counting of the election votes has improved the positions of the former Premier, Mr. Mair ( and Health Minister, Mr. Fitzsimons.' The former is now more than 600 votes ahead of his Labour opponent and is expected to maintain the lead. Mr. Fitzsimons will probably receive sufficient of the outstanding votes to retain his seat.

Eighty-four of the 90 seats in which the results are now clear have been distributed as follows:—Labour, 53; United Australia and Country Parties, 24; Independents, 7. Four of the Independents are supporters of the United Australia Party.—U.P.A.
