SIR CHARLES LUKE
LEGACY TO HOSPITAL
Appreciation of the late Sir Charles Luke's services to the Hospital Board was expressed in the following motion carried at the meeting of the board last night: "This board tenders to the family of the late S.ir Charles Luke its deep sympathy with them in their bereavement; and records its appreciation of the valuable services rendered by him during his long association with the administration of the Wellington Hospital.1'
Sir Charles Luke had been justifiably eulogised, said the chairman, Mr. F. Castle, not only for his interest in hospital matters, but in many other directions in the city.
The executors of the estate advised the board that under Sir Charles's will a legacy of £200 had been left to the board, on behalf of whom the chairman expressed appreciation.
FEDERATED MOUNTAIN CLUBS
The annual report of the Federated Mountain Clubs of New Zealand, to be presented to the meeting on May 17, states • that petrol restrictions had materially interfered with the activities of some clubs, but relief had been afforded in the worst cases. Members are urged to keep skiing activities going as far as possible, although there would be no championship this year. Several important questions" upon which the Government had been approached would have to remain in abeyance until after the war.
