MINISTER TO U.S.A.
WHEN THE EXCHANGE?
"It is now nearly two months since the Prime Minister announced that an arrangement had been made between the United States and New Zealand. Governments for the exchange of diplomatic representatives, and the people of New Zealand are awaiting eagerly a further announcement as to the identity of New Zealand's chosen representative," states the first bulletin issued by the New Zealand section of the British-American Co-operation Movement.
"America's emissary is assured of a hearty welcome and all possible cooperation and assistance in his work when he arrives among us," the bulletin states. "This decision to exchange Ministers is a notable milestone in United States and New Zealand diplomatic relations, and one which has the wholehearted endorsement of the people of this country. Our chosen Minister to the United States will oarry a great responsibility as an ambassador of good will from one friendly democratic people to another. Australia's representative, Mr. Casey, has been in Washington for some time, has created an excellent impression, and is doing a really first-class job of work for his country in the United States. A man of keen intellect and a fluent and forceful speaker, his public utterances have been widely recorded."
