INCREASED WAGES
HOSPITAL DOMESTIC STAFF
Difficulty is being experienced by the Wellington Hospital Board in securing a regular and permanent domestic staff to work the hours necessary at the wage offered. The board decided last night that with a view to obtaining adequate staff, an extra 5s per week, raising the gross salary from £2 11s to £2 16s per week, be granted as from yesterday, and that a bonus of £5 per annum on the completion of each year's service be granted to all domestic workers. The building committee has been asked to consider the provision of adequate restroom, bathroom, and locker accommodation for these workers.
