GOLD MINING REPORTS.
Alexander Mines, Limited, report for the month of January, 1941, as follows:—Battery department, 560z 4dwt of melted gold from 167 lons crushed; estimated value £430. Cyanide department: This has not been cleaned up. In addition, 3.5 tons of concentrates have been saved valued at £125. • In estimating these values, gold has been taktfn at 160s per fine oz. Una Hill Consolidated Gold Mines Ltd. issued the following progress report from the mine at Thames:— "During the week ended February 7 the rise south' was advanced 4ft in good country mixed with stringers, A hole was put through to the shaft coming out in the specimen reef. In the rise north the reef has widened into a solid toody of ciuartz with colours of gold. The process of opening out from this rise is nearly completed." The Argo Gold Dredging Co., Ltd., in the return for the week ending February 8, reports 330z for 114 hours' working over 10,000 yards. The Grey River Dredging Co., Ltd., reports for the week ended February 12 a return of 323| ounces from 78,364 cubic yards in 119 hours.
