AMERICANS IN EAST
BOOKING OF PASSAGES
(Received February 15, 8 a.m.)
TOKIO, February 14.
Scores of Americans who have been delaying their evacuation have booked their passages •as a result of the renewed urgings 'by Consulates. The movement has been most noticeable among missionaries and others who, due to long residence, have previously hesitated to sever their connections. A survey by the United States Press showed that over half the Americans normally resident in the Japanese Empire have already departed, leaving the following numbers: 550 men, 380 women, and 120 children.
The American Consulate in Hong Kong is circularising 2000 Americans regarding the evacuation advice.
