ENFORCING ARMISTICE TERMS
(By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright.) (Received. February 6, 10 a.m.) LONDON, February 5. It was stated authoritatively in Saigon (Indo-China) that Japanese troops would be landed there within a fortnight, ostensibly to enforce the armistice terms between Indo-China and Thailand. A message from Tokio says that Cabinet has decided that the Foreign Minister, Mr; Matsuoka, and the Minister at Large, Mr. Hajime Matsumiya, will represent Japan, at the peace conference between Thailand and Indo-China, for which the Thai delegates will arrive by plane today. Travellers reaching Bangkok from Malaya state that the British have strengthened the defences on the frontier between Thailand and Malaya.
