Pilot Officer D. M. Rolph-Smith, Auckland, who left New Zealand in 1939 to take up a short-service commission in the Royal Air Force, has been promoted' to flying officer. The appointment of Mr. P. W. Fryer as secretary and treasurer to the Lyttelton Harbour Board was confirmed at the meeting of the board yesterday. Mr. Fryer is engineer to the board and has been acting secretary and treasurer.
