ITALIAN FORCES
KEY TOWN OF TEPELENI
INDICATIONS SEEN
GREEKS WELL PLACED
LONDON, February 4
According to a Greek Press Ministry statement quoted by Athens radio tonight there are indications that the Italians are preparing to leave Tepeleni. Big fires are to be seen, and this is taken as evidence that the Italians are destroying their stores in large quantities. Tepeleni is the key town on the central sector of the Albanian front. Through it runs the only main road to Valona, Italy's second mosl important naval base on the Albanian coast.
The Greeks are already in control of the 6000-foot mountain range which overlooks Telepeni and which dominates important roads. This range commands the roads from Klisura and Valona lo Berali. Reports in Athens today describe this range as the strategic key to the whole of southern Albania, and state that with its capture the way is now open for Greek action on a wider
scale
