DAMAGES AWARDED
General damages of £100 and special damages amounting to £33, the full amount claimed, were awarded by a jury of four in the Supreme Court today to Benjamin James Parkes, a moulder, of Petone. His wife, Catherine Parkes, who claimed £150 general damages, was awarded £30. The defendant was William Simmons, a wharf labourer, of Wellington, on whose behalf liability was admitted for reasonable damages as the result of a collision which took place between his car and Parkes's at the corner of Jackson and William Streets, Petone, on the afternoon of January 6, 1940.
The C;-:ef Justice (Sir Michael Myers) presided. Mr. A. H. Macandrew appeared for the plaintiffs and Mr. .W. P. Shorland for the defendants.
