ONE-ARMED DRIVING

Sir, —Over twelve months ago I wrote to the Minister of Transport drawing attention to the dangers arising from drivers who habitually drive with the right arm leaning on or projecting from the front window-sill of their cars. Such drivers obviously have not full control over their vehicles. In effect while so driving they are less than one-arm drivers, lacking freedom of movement, and conceivably many inexplicable accidents might be traced to this cause.

In the letter of acknowledgment thanking me on behalf of the Minister for drawing attention to the matter the Commissioner of Transport said: "Your suggestion is a very excellent one and I shall arrange for publicity to be given to it." I have seen no evidence of action. Meantime the number of such drivers has increased greatly, and so has the list of accidents. —I am, etc.,
