LANDED IN URUGUAY

BRITISH PATROL PLANE

QUESTION OF INTERNMENT

MONTEVIDEO, January 15,

A British seaplane with a crew of three belonging to a South Atlantic patrol service ran out of fuel while watching the movements of the French steamer Mendoza, which was reported yesterday to be returning to port after being stopped by a British warship, and was forced to descend near Port Punta del Este to which the crew signalled for help with reflectors. A Uruguayan navy launch towed the plane to harbour. The crew were questioned by the prefecture. It is uncertain whether they will be interned or permitted to depart similar to the procedure regarding belligerent warships. It is not revealed where the seaplane was operating from.
