Y.M.C.A. CAMP
A number of boys who had been at tending the first period of the V.M.C.A. holiday camp at Pohangina, near Palmerston North, returned to Wellington on Friday. During their fortnight under canvas they took part in all kinds of activities, including swimming, cricket, baseball, tenequoit, paper chase, road race, table tennis competition, treasure hunt, eel-spearing, life-saving, and first-aid iraining. During the evenings impromptu concerts were held and sound films were screened in the assembly hall. The boys then lined up for cocoa and biscuits before retiring. On New Year's Eve a ceremonial camp fire was held, the campers repeating suitable New Year resolutions. Mr. G. R. Pitkethley, of the Wellington Association, is in charge of the camp. One hundred and ten boys are now taking part in the second and concluding period of two weeks. Half of these are Wellington boys and half are from Palmerston North. .
