The Minister of Finance (Mr. Nash) and the Minister of Labour (Mr. Webb) will leave Wellington for the South Island tonight. They intend to proceed through Westland to Otago and will probably be absent from Wellington until about the end of January.
Mr. W. Russell-Wood, Dunedin, accompanied by Mr. B. Donovan, Bendigo, Victoria, arrived in Wellington from the South Island yesterday.
Mr. A. L. Smith, railway transportation superintendent, returned to Wellington from Auckland yesterday.
Mr. George N. Francis, who has been in charge of the vice-consulate of the Netherlands in Christchurch since the death of his father, the late Mr. Norton Francis, has been appointed Viceconsul in that city by Royal Netherlands decree of December 6, 1940. The provisional recognition- of the appointment by the New Zealand Government was gazetted on January 9, 1941.
