A Naval spokesman said:
• "Germany has been making strenuous efforts to close the entrances to our harbours by means ol mine-laving aeroplanes, and recently also witn Eboats. When the full history of the war is known it will reveal the brilliant work of the torpedo men, scientific experts, and mine-sweeper crews in defeating the enemy's efforts. We have had anxieties and losses, but we never doubted that the enemy will fail in his objective.
