A Double Celebration,

Mr. and Mrs. George Orr celebrated their silver wedding anniversary and ■their son, Mr. Vincent Orr, celebrated his twenty-first birthday at a party which -they held at the Orange Hall, Newtown. There were about 100 guests, among them being Mr. and Mrs. Boock, . and son, of Palmerston North, Miss E. Davies and Mrs. Soutter and Miss Soutter, of Christchurch, and Miss J. Orr, who had been a bridesmaid nt Mr. and Mrs. George Qrr's wedding. Mr. Stan Campbell was master, of ceremonies. Dancing and items and the nrusic of a dance band provided delightful entertainment.

WEDDING

LABONE—FALCONAR,

Among the Christmas weddings was that, of Joan Falconar,.. second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Falconar,

Wellington, and Leonard Steen Labone, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Labone, also of Wellington. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Mr. McLevie, at St. Barnabas' Church, Roseneath, at 7 p.m. on December 21.

The bride wore a gown of powder blue brocaded silver lame with a veil of blue tulle held by miniature silver lilies, and she carried a sheaf of ice-blue and silver arum lilies. Her maids, Misses Poppy Falconar and Valeric Labone, were frocked in dusty pink floral georgette with a matching tiara. .

Eighty guests attended the reception, held at the home of the bride's parents, where they were received by Mrs. Falconar, assisted by Mrs. Labone. The bridal party included Mr. G. C. Young, who was best man. and Mr. J. M. Burt the groomsman. Among the guests were the bride's grandmother, Mrs. Wells, and the bridegroom's grandmother. Mrs. H. Steen. At the conclusion of the reception, which went to a late hour, celebrations were continued by a big party at the Crow's Nest.

The bride and bridegroom travelled north for their honeymoon, the bride wearing a grey tailored suit with mulberry accessories and fox furs.
