(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
PALMERSTON' N., December 28,
Negotiations are now, proceeding with the aim of matching Ron Richards, the well-known Australian Ught-heavy : weight boxer, in a bout in New Zealand with Maurice Strickland.
Mr. Charles Lucas has already receiyed * - reply»from ■ Ittchards's - jnan-
ager, Mr. Jack Munro. "Richards's fight in New Zealand now hinges on whether he can get his money out of New Zealand," said Mr. Lucas. "I do not expect there will be further developments until next ■ week, but in the meantime I have not been, in communication with anyone as to where the fight might take place. 1
"There has been no suggestion that Strickland might go to Australia, so each, boxer could contribute to the other's purse and neither would have to take the money away.
"The purse, naturally, will have to be heavy, but still I think the fight will take place."
