GROWERS' PROSPECT

NEW SOUTH WALES WOOL

(By Trans-Tasman Air Mail, from "The Post's" Representative.)

SYDNEY, December 14,

An expectation that this season's New South Wales wool slip would show a large decrease, because of the adverse season, has not materialised. The decrease is not likely to exceed 5 per cent, of last season's record clip. Deliveries to Sydney to date total 1,025,713 bales, a reduction of only 52,970 bales, or 5 per cent, on the figures for the corresponding period of the preceding year.

The sheep generally have cut less wool per head, but more grown stock have been shorn than in 1939. On March 31 last, the State's flocks were 3,624,000 head more than at the same date of the preceding year. Sales of sheep and lamb meat have been heavy since shearing.

Generally, the sheepowner has experienced a disappointing twelve months. The market for his clip has been assured, but the' adverse season, and the lower prices for his wool, caused by poor pastures, have resulted in reduced monetary returns.
