PUPILS' RECITAL
On Wednesday last, in St. Giles's Hall, Kilbirnie, Miss Jenny Russell, L.R.S.M., presented her.pupils to a large audience of parents and friends. Those taking part showed confidence and ease at the piano, which made their performances all the more appreciated by their listeners. The piano solos were interspersed with songs by M. Hollings, a recitation by C. Algar, carols by a choir conducted and accompanied by the children, and a play written and produced by one of the pupils. An interesting demonstration of a sight-singing lesson by children from. Miramar South Infant School was given, under the leadership of Miss C. Russell, L.R.A.M.
Prizes and certificates won during the year for progress, examinations, and competitions, and musical services rendered, were presented to J. Perks, M. Menzies, C. Algar, M. Stone, W. O'Connor, M. Sage, N. Smith, G. Climo, and two special presentations of Maori music were made to Sheila Hardie and Laurie Skilling, English children who are continuing their musical studies ;in their adopted country.
