STOREMAN ADMITTED TO
PROBATION
"It's no good making any applica-! tion for suppression of name in a case like this," said Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court today, after he had admitted Harold John Bain Duff, aged 44, a storeman, to probation for 18 months for stealing from Kodak (N.Z.), Ltd., cinematograph film valued at £43 6s 6d. There were six charges, and Duff pleaded guilty. Detective-Sergeant W. McLennan said that Duff had been employed in charge of the dispatch department of Kodak, Ltd. He had not previously been before a Court. , Duff's previously unblemished record was mentioned by Mr. W. G. Mellish on his behalf. Counsel said that Duff was married, with two young children. Temptation had been put in his way and he had succumbed to it. ;
' Duff is to make restitution of £21 6s lOd, and an order was made for the return to the firm of the property recovered.
