ALEXANDER MINES RETURNS

1 Alexander Mines reports for December as follows:—Owing to a shortage of men, work has been confined to stoping only, no development being carried out for the period, Stoping has been carried out in second, third, and fourth stopes. In second slope on extreme N. end, lode, thought small, appears to be extending northwards. Two men employed in No. 5 stopes on lode in very faulty country. Sent to battery 152 tons of stone. Gold returns for November and December: Battery department—374 tons ore crushed for 159 oz 7dwt melted gold. Cyanide department—3l4 tons sands treated for 70oz 19dwt bullion. Total estimated value, £1580. In addition, 6.75 tons concentrates saved valued at £301. In estimating above value, gold taken st 100s per fine oz.
