RECOGNITION WITHDRAWN ; LONDON, December 11. '. The London Gazette announces that . [ the. recognition of M. Treinoulet as French Consul-General in Sydney has been withdrawn. (Received December 13, 9 a.m.) ; CANBERRA; December 12. The Minister of External Affairs, Sir Frederick Stewart, announced that the Government had recommended to the King the withdrawal of his recognition of M. Tremoulet'as French ConsulGeneral in Australia.

The Minister said he believed that this action would meet with the general approval of French residents in the Commonwealth. The withdrawal of M. Tremoulet's exequatur would not affect the recognition by the Commonwealth of French consulates and other French, consular officers.
