BODIES IN HARBOUR

WOMAN AND A GIRL

AUCKLAND, This Day.

The bodies of a woman aged about 44 and a girl aged about 6 were recovered from the harbour opposite the Parnell baths about 7.30 this morning. The girl was clasped in the woman's arms and both were fully dressed.

The police were informed by boys who made the discovery. A handbag found about 300 yards away is stated to contain a letter addressed to "Mrs. Ricketts, Point Chevalier." It is also stated that a note was found intimating that the woman intended to take her life and expressing regret for her action.

The police are endeavouring to trace the relatives.
