THE HOME GUARD
CONTINUATION AFTER WAR
Without the assistance of returned soldiers the Home Guard would never be a very important factor in the defence of New Zealand, said Major-. General Sir Andrew Russell, Inspec-tor-General of the Forces, in an address to the luncheon gathering of the Wellington Returned Soldiers' Association today.
He appealed to returned men to rally to the Home Guard and expressed the hope that the association of men now being brought about in the Home Guard and the National Military Reserve would continue after the war. He refused to believe that all our present trials and tribulations were going to leave us without any good fruit.
