FOOD IN BRITAIN
DIFFICULTIES INDICATED
MORE PRODUCTION WANTED

LONDON, November 26,
Indications of food difficulties came from • several quarters today. The Minister of Food (Lord Woolton), in a speech, appealed to the public to be careful in the use of milk for the next two months, although rationing was not proposed* An official order prohibits the use of liquid milk, including skimmed milk, in the manufacture of ice cream1 from December 1.
The Minister of Agriculture (Mr. R. Hudson), in the House of Commons, said that a further increase in home food production was vital, particularly edible crops and milk.. Lord Woolton also pjointed out that a shortage of sweets/was due to the restriction on the sugar available for their manufacture. A scarcity of slab chocolate was due to the Auxiliary Fire Service canteens receiving priority.
