OPERATIONS IN ATLANTIC
GERMANS CONCENTRATED IN THE NORTH
LONDON, November 7. The Italian radio has confirmed the Bremen radio statement that Italian J submarines have passed through - the Straits of Gibraltar and are co-operat- i ing with German U-boats in the Atlan-1 tic. It added that the Italians had| taken over the southern approaches of j the > Atlantic from the U-bqats, which j were now concentrated in the north Atlantic. The auxiliary cruiser Patroclus was sunk by a U-boat when rescuing the survivors of the auxiliary cruiser Laurentic. This was disclosed when 631. officers and men from the two ships were landed at a Scottish port. The German news agency says that the French Mediterranean squadron has completed manoeuvres off the south of France. Admiral Darlan expressed satisfaction at the success of the operation.
