NATIONAL DEBT LIMIT
INCREASE SOUGHT
TAX ON GOVERNMENT LOANS
(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.); j (Received November 8, 11 a.m.)) ! WASHINGTON, November 7. The Secretary of the Treasury, Mr. H. Morgenthau, announced that the Treasury would soon ask Congress to permit taxation on future issues of all classes of Government securities. The Administration would also seek power to elevate the statutory limit of the National Debt from the current limit of 45,000,000,000 dollars to 60,000,000,000 or 65,000,000,000. He added that the public debt on June 30, 1942, might aggregate 65,000,000,000 dollars. MivMosgentb.au declined to estimate the extent of Government expenditure in the next four years, but said, "We have only >ust begun to re-arm."
