ATHLETIC STALWART
Tributes to the long service given to amateur athletics in Wellington by Mr. A. C. Kitto, for many years president of the Wellington Amateur Athletic Centre, were paid at a farewell tendered him at St.. Patrick's College last night. Mr. J. W. Heenan, Under-Secretary for Internal Affairs, who has followed Mr. Kitto as president of the Wellington Centre, said that he knew what amateur athletics in Wellington and the Dominion as a whole owed to the enthusiasm of Mr. Kitto. Mr. Kitto referred to the many lifelong friends he had made through his association with amateur and assured those present that his future interest in the sport would be as great as ever. . v
Brian Phillips, aged 12 months, 42 Camperdown Road, suffered scalds to his left arm and leg and shock when a jug of hot water was upset at his home last night. The Free Ambulance took him to hospital. .
