The directors of Brown, Ewing, and Co., Ltd.. Dunedin, report net profit for year ended August 15, 1940, as showing a considerable improvement. But more than one half has had to be provided to meet taxation. Ihe usual dividend of 5 per cent, on preference shares will be paid and the directors recommend a dividend of 5 per cent, on ordinary shares, free of social security and national security taxes.
