SOLDIER IN TROUBLE

DUNEDIN, This Day. Arthur Albert Freeman, aged 21, a soldier on leave from Papakura, pleadr ed guilty in the Police Court to wilfully signing the name of G. R. Purser to a Post Office notice of withdrawal for £3 10s. In a statement to the police, the accused said he knew Purser, who was in the same military com. pany. He was tempted to operate on the account because he was short of money.
Detective Gibson said that the accused was convicted in Christchurch recently for obtaining money by a false pretence> On that occasion he adopted the same procedure and used the same name and applied for the same sum. The accused was committed for sentence.
