DAILY ACT OF HOMAGE

(To the Editor.) Sir,—l heartily support the suggestion of J. Evan Smith, Lieut. Commissioner of the Salvation Army, .regarding the report per "British Official Wireless" published in your paper dated September 18, which I read with a glow of upliftment and pride. I realised at once what a great thing it would be if New Zealand could send out simultaneously such a powerful thought wave at the same time daily. The knowledge that such an advanced and understanding prayer wave should emanate from a cosmopolitan city like Cape Town and that it embraces everyone in the streets and elsewhere came as a revelation to many. It is so easy to visualise the great reminder everyone would get daily. The "Silence" would be the birth of much that is good. Of course some machinery is required before New; Zealand could-

! follow Cape Town's illuminating example. The Government and City Councils would need to co-operate. The more I think on this subject, the more I am convinced that the introduction of such a silence would be the introduction of a new era and a new discernment about the "Kingdom of God." Thoughts are things. Their: application in prayer under the form suggested, embracing, as it soon would, the whole community, would be such a powerful influence that a new understanding of psychology and religion would come into being. The Cape Town example could supersede all the isolated efforts now being undertaken and contemplated. Everyone would take part. I hope the Lieut. Commissioner and all Ministers will take action. —I am, etc., READY AND WILLING.
