(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.} (Received September 21, 11 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. The Victoria Racing Club has decided because of the seriousness of the war position overseas and xhe necessity for providing funds for patriotic purposes, tb reduce the prize-money for the forthcoming Melbourne Cup from £10,000 to £7500 and that for the Cantala Stakes from £2500 to £2000.
