CRICKET
GAME SHOULD GO ON
WELLINGTON CLUB
Views that cricket should be continued in the coming season were expressed at the Wellington Cricket Club's annual meeting last night. The president (Mr. M. M. F. Luckie) thought that a suspension of activities would be a great mistake. Every man of military age knew that he was liable to be called on for service and the best thing he could do while waiting was to take up the best of outdoor activity. Mr. C. G. Wilson was also strongly of the. opinion that the game should go on.
Of the past season's activities, the president referred specially to the improvement shown by the club in results of engagements on the field of play as well- as in its financial position. They were matters for congratulation, and the good fellowship and enjoyment which characterised the matches were of untold benefit.
The report stated that a number of players had left on active service and a great number more would most likely be leaving, and. to all the wish was for a safe return after the victory. - .
