ALLISON—SAWYER.

The wedding was solemnised recently at St. Barnabas Church, Roseneath, of Esther Mildred Sawyer, of Wellington, and Private James Horace Allison, late of Sofala, New South Wales. The Rev. E. M. McLevie conducted the service, and Mr. Robert Henry officiated at the organ.

The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a classic gown of magnolia satin, the train flowing gracefully from the waistline. Little pleats tucked behind a halo of orange blossom completed her tulle veil. She carried a bouquet of June roses, freesias, and cyclamen. Her sisters,, the Misses Stella and Ida Sawyer, wore bridesmaids' frocks of deep cyclamen chiffon made with puff sleeves and full ballet skirts. Tulle shoulder veils were caught to their heads by irises, and ruched muffs were carried.

Mr. F. Curtis was best man, and Mr. B. Langman groomsman. The usher was Mr. D. McKercher. Mr. E. Glading sang during the signing of the register.

A reception was held at the Empire Hotel, when the bride's mother, assisted by Mrs. A. Fry, received the guests. Musical items were given by Mrs. B. Langman, Mrs. W. Boardman, and Messrs. W. Boardman, E. Glading, R. Henry, and C. Sawyer. BELL—WHITAKER. The marriage took place recently of Ethel, only daughter of Mrs. S. and the late Mr. D. Whitaker, Brooklyn, to Charles John, eldest son of Mrs. A. M. and the late Mr. C. Bell, Rongotai, at, the Methodist Church, Brooklyn. The Rev. T. Skuse performed the ceremony and Mr. F. Shields was organist. The bride, who was escorted by Mr. G. Shields, an old friend, wore a gown of cream slipper satin, cut on classical lines, the train falling from the bustled back. Her veil, lent by a friend, was held in place by a tiara of three roses. She carried a bouquet of cyclamen, bouvardia, freesias, and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaid, Miss Joan Williams, wore a period frock of terracotta shot taffeta with bustled back. Her pillbox hat was trimmed with ostrich feathers and tulle and she carried a bouquet of toning cyclamen, bouvardia, polyanthus, and maidenhair fern. Mr. M. Bell was best man. Mrs. Whitaker, assisted by Mrs. Bell, received the guests at a reception held at the Grand Hotel. For travelling the bride wore an Air Force blue costume with matching accessories.
