THE LATE MR. D. J. MCGOWAN

With the passing of Mr. D. J. McGowan not only have the Wellington business circles lost a prominent and greatly respected figure, but the. realm of sport also keenly feels the loss. Mr. McGowan was an intensely enthusiastic supporter of the Mercantile. Cricket League, being patron of the Customs Agents' Cricket Club, and also patron of the Mercantile League Umpires' Association. He was also a vice-presi-dent of Metters Cricket Club (Hutt Valley Cricket Association} and of the Harbour Board and Burch and Co.'s Cricket Clubs in the Mercantile League.- . Until his last illness he was almost every Monday night to be found at.the Town Hall keenly interested in the wrestling, and from there during his illness cheery messages went out to him. Each and every member of the clubs mentioned and of the Mercantile League and Umpires' Association join with his relatives and the members of the staff of McGowan and Magee in mourning the loss of a beloved friend.
