£100,000 INTERNAL MARKETING BLOCK
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —What a wonderful country to live mi All sorts of Government- control; reduction in the use of petrol (and rightly so); enormous taxation (and for the war we don't begrudge this), but in the midst of everything Mr. Nash goes on with his £ 100,000 building which, by the way, is estimated to cost this figure, plus the amount already expended of over £10,000 on the foundations and plus the cost of the section (ampunt undisclosed).
A shortage of steel for wharf construction, but plenty of steel for speculative construction. Where is the £100,000 going to? Surely a one-floor building at a cost of say £10,000 (on top of the foundations) should meet the requirements of the Internal Marketing Division unless it is the Minister's intention to build recreation rooms for the multitude of civil servants. One floor might be reserved for a special new department which might be known as the "Government Forms Department" to check up on the other Departments which send out all the forms to private enterprise to enable Government enterprise to take away any profits made by private enterprise. —I am, etc.,
MONUMENT,
