HAMPSTEAD WEDDING
WANGANUI BRIDEGROOM
(By Air Mail, from "The Post's" London Representative.) LONDON, June 19. The wedding took place quietly at Hampstead, on June 17, of Mr. C. M. P. Brown, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Palmer Brown, of Wanganui, to Miss Margaret May Gillhespy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Gillhespy, of Hathersage, Derby. A number of friends attended a dinner at Castle Hotel, Richmond, in the evening. Mr. Brown is an old boy of Wanganui Collegiate School. At "Victoria College he won the senior scholar- [ ship in Economics and graduated M.A. After being awarded a post-graduate scholarship in Arts, he spent two years at Clare College, Cambridge. In London he has been attached to the Intelligence Department of the Midland Bank, and is now statistician to a firm of consulting engineers. Miss Gillhespy was head of Harrogate College, Derby. At Girton College, Cambridge, she read for the History Tripos and represented the University at swimming, squash, lacrosse, and cricket. After taking a Diploma of Social Science at the London School of Economics she was appointed Assistant Welfare Superintendent at a large London factory. Mr. and Mrs. Brown first met on a skiing holiday in Austria, on the weekend that it was invaded by Hitler.
