WATERFRONT WORK
FARMERS "DISGUSTED"
(Special to the "Evening Post.")
PALMERSTON N., This Day.
Yesterday's meeting of the Wellington Central provincial executive of the Farmers' Union discussed the matter of the refusal of waterside workers to load a ship at Auckland during the night, and members expressed, concern over the apparent inability of the Government to insist upon the work being done. It was stated that the position had not improved since the working of ships at wharves had been handed over to a commission. The following motion was carried:—
"In view of the fact that the speedy, unhindered dispatch of primary produce is of even greater importance than increased production, this executive views with disgust the state of affairs still existing on the waterfront."
