STRUGGLE IN HOUSE

SON-IN-LAW ARRESTED

(By Telegraph—Press Association.)

TAURANGA, This Day.

The screaming of children and shots from a gun disturbed residents of Durham Street at 7 o'clock last night when Joe and Allan Faulkner rushed into the residence of C. T. Mabey and found him struggling and endeavouring to wrest a gun from his son-in-law, Andrew Ferguson. S. Snowden, who lives nearby, also rushed in. Discovering that a struggle had taken place and that two shots had been fired from a shotgun they immediately escorted Ferguson to the police station. Mabey, who is an elderly man, suffered no injury. At the Police Court this morning Ferguson appeared before Messrs. W. T. Teasey and C. Whiting, J.P.s, charged with discharging a double-barrelled shotgun at Charles . Thomas Mabey with intent to do grievous bodily harm, and also with presenting a firearm at Mabey. Mr. H. O. Cooney appeared for Ferguson. Sergeant Edwards applied for a remand till Fri-day,-which was granted.
