THROWN FROM GIG

TIMARU STUDMASTER

(By Telegraph—Press Association.)

TIMARU, This Day.

A well-known horse trainer, William John Spence, met his death this morning when proceeding out from Timaru in a gig. It is thought he had a seizure and that the horse bolted. It swerved at the foot of the hill, and Mr. Spence was thrown from the gig, landing on his head on the tar-sealed road. He was beyond assistance when picked up and life was extinct when a doctor arrived.

At one time Mr. Spence trained and raced trotters, and for the last ten years had been a trotting studmaster.
