BREEZY BOX REVUE
PROCEEDS FOR RED CROSS
The Concert ..Chamber was comfortably filled on Monday night, when Mr. Buddy Langman and his band of talented performers staged a bright revue, the entire proceeds being devoted to the Wellington City sub-centre of the New Zealand Red Cross Society for normal activities.
The music was supplied by Messrs. Bob Henry (piano), Bert Rolfe (violin), and Trevor Morgan (drums). The ballets were arranged by Miss Diana Power-Palmer, those taking part being Misses Elizabeth Reade, Pearl McKenzie, Peggy Pike, Lynley Kay, Shirley Adams, Pat Anderson, Joyce G. Smith, Ann Menzies, Lois Humphreys, Joan Sommerville. Joy Collie, and Lima Collins. The soloists were Misses Kathleen Sawyer, Lauri Jones, Elisabeth Eade, and Messrs. George Smith. Ken Macauley, and Ivan Smith. Mr. Will Bishop's monologues were enthusiastically encored, as were Joyce G. Smith, Lynley Kay, and the Ratz
Duo for their solo dances. "Davolo," a clever magician, kept all mystified, and the programme concluded with a most realistic bull fight, Buddy Langman being the toreador and George Smith and Lindsay Constable being the bull (El Toro). This.act created roars of laughter. Mr. Blackie, on behalf of the New Zealand Red Cross Society, thanked Mr. Langman and his performers. He also thanked the V.A.D.s and the mens detachment for their services and the Maple Furnishing Co., Madame Foley, Mr. L. Evans, Mr. George College, Mr. Fred H. C. Smith, Chas. Begg and Co., Mr. Ken Matheson, and Mr. A. E. Ivin for their contributions towards the success oi the revue.
