NEW RECORD FOR PORT
The fact that there was a record toYinage of vessels at the Wellington wharves on April 24, 1940, was mentioned by the chairman, Mr. M. A. Eliott, at a meeting of the Wellington Harbour Board last evening. He gave the following details: —Gross and displacement tonnage, 229.151 tons; net tonnage, 130,961 tons. The previous record, Mr. Eliott added, was on January 4, 1940, when the gross and displacement tonnage totalled 220,670 tons and the net tonnage 101,581 tons.
