CRIPPLED CHILDREN
WORK OF SOCIETY
In reporting to the Wellington branch of the Crippled Children's SocS at the monthly meeting recently ?he welfare officer stated that during the month, eight new cases had been registered with the branch, 25 visits paid 65 visits received at her office and 91 cases attended at the hospital "Out-Patients'" Clinic. Financial assistance had been given in the purchase of surgical boots, travelling expenses to school, fees for a commercial course at a private college for a boy who is too crippled to obtain instruction elseThe'display of handwork at the stall of the New Zealand Society at the Exhibition has clearly demonstrated the talent of cripples in this direction. Acting on this, the Wanganui branch of the society have organised a Domin-ion-wide competition in handwork for cripples registered with the society. Cash prizes are offered for the three best entries in the several classes. The president, Mrs. Knox Gilmer, extended a welcome to Mrs. V. A. May in her appointment as secretary and vocational officer to the Wellington branch. Four members . of the committee were elected as.representatives of the society to act with Toe H and the League of Women Helpers in-promot-ing the interests and activities of th« Crippled Boys' and Girls' Clubs.
