PRICES OF EGGS
Wholesale egg prices in Wellington made a considerable advance today, following on similar increases in quotations in other centres. Specials and A grade, on last, week's prices, rose by ; 4d per dozen, B grade by sd, and pullets' by 6d per dozen. Dominion.' Distributors' schedule 'of wholesale prices today is as follows:— 1 Grade. Ferdoz." ( • s. d. . Special ....... 3 2 A 3 0 B 2 10 Pullets' :... 2 6 Preserved 2 6 The advance in the market coincides with the period of lowest egg production and prices are now up to the peals of 1938, but Id per dozen below the highest point of 1939. Demand continues to be keen, whereas supplies for domestic purposes are affected' by heavy requirements of shipping. It is expected that supplies will be very - short for a week or two, but after-, wards they may improve.
