WELLINGTON LEAGUE
The senior men's singles title in me Wellington Lawn Tennis League's Easter tournament was won by R. Mnrtell, of the. Vogelmorn Club, who yesterday beat A. Shaw (Education), ti-4, o-i. Martell was the faster and more accurate player. The senior i women's singles were won by Miss M. Weir,'also of the Vogelmorn Club. Vogelmorn players also won the women's doubles. The senior tournament was played on the Vogelmorn courts, V ennell Street, and it attracted a record entr^ j Results:— / \ SENIOR GRADE. Men's Singles.—Semi-finals: A. Shaw (Kdu- I cation) beat- W. Pickering (Vogelisorn), 9-7; IK Martell (Vogelmorn) beat C. Cameron (Island Bay Presbyterian), 9-1. Final: Martell beat Shaw. 6-4, • 0-1.. , Men'a Doubles.—Semi-finals: Martell and Pickering- beat Humphries and Cragg (Vogelmorn), ' 9-7; Cameron and Cameron (Island Bay Presbyterian) beat Fitzgerald (Wellington Hospital) and Jessup (Awatea), 9-7. Final: Martell and Pickering beat Cameron and Cameron, 0-0. 6-3. Women's Singles.—Semi-flnals: Mrs. A. E. McKinnon (Education) beat Miss S. Jones (Challenge), 9-3; Miss M. Weir (Vogelmorn) beat Miss J. C. Weir (Vogelmorn), 0-6. Final: Miss M. Weir beat Mrs. McKinnon. 6-5, 6-5. Women's Doubles.—Semi-finals: Misses 3. Weir and E. Bethell (Vogelmorn) beat Misses M. Weir (Vogelmorn) and S. Jones (Challenge), 9-8: Mrs. Coupe and Miss Wales (Te Huinga) 'won by default. Final: Misses J. Weir and Bethell beat Mrs. Coupe and Miss Wales, 6-5, 6-2.
Mixed Doubles.—Semi-flnals: Martell (Voiielraorn) and Miss Jones (Challenge) beat Pickering (Vogelmorri) and Miss Wales (Te Huinga). 9-8; Alpe and Miss.Thomson (Education) bunt Gorman and Miss 'Davis (Wellington North). 9-5.
