EASTER TOURNAMENT

FINAL RESULTS

The Wellington Lawn Tennis Association's Easter championship tournament concluded at the Miramar courts Jate yesterday afternoon. The latter part of the final day's play was taken up with the finals of the nine important events. . B. McKenzie, present junior singles champion of New Zealand, carried n'.'f the men's A grade championship after defeating N. .V. Edwards, a former New Zealariii Singles champion, in an •exciting fibai. McKenzie took the first set 6-2 but JKowards who had seemed unable to-strike form settled clown in the second set and»>van it easily 6-1. In the third set Edwards was at one stage leading 4-3, hut McKenzie topic the next four games straight to win set and match Miss J. Burns won the final of the A grade women's single championship by defeating Mrs. Rlckman, 6-2, 6-1. At the conclusion of the day's play trophies were presented by Mr. C G. White, president of the Wellington Lawn Tennis Association. '• Other results subsequent to ihose published yesterday were as follows :^- A GRAPE, Women's Doubles. Final.—Mesdames France and Dykes, beat Mrs.' Rickman and Miss Burns, 2-G, 6-0, 6-1. . Combined Doubles. Final. —E. Walker and Mrs. Dykes beat Mr. and Mrs. France, 6-4, S-G. B GRADE. Men's Singles. Final.—M." Gosling beat Shield, 6-3, 6-4. Men's Doubles. Final.—Gosling and Martin beat Tonks and Henshilwood, 6-5, 3-6, 6-4. Women's Singles.

Final. —Mrs. Murrow beat Mrs. Heard, 6-3, 6-2.

Women's Double*. Final.—Mrs.- Murrow and Miss Asher beat Mrs. Hawker and' Mrs. Heard, 6-4, 6-1

Combined Doubles.

Semi-final.—Tonks and Mrs. Heard beat McCorniack and Miss D. Longton, 6-4, 6-3. Boys' Singles. ' Final.—Collett beat D. Ashley, 9-5. HANDICAP EVENTS. Men's Singles. Semi-final.—Archer beat Wiren, 9-8. Men's Doubles. Final.—Archer and Peebles beat McCardle and Marchant, 9-3. Women's Singles. Mrs. Paterson beat Miss Page,- 9-8. The final of the two uncompleted events— the men's singles handicap and the combined doubles handicap—will be played during the coming weekend.
