A PASSION PLAY.
The "Upper Room," which is to be staged by the Wellington Catholic players on Monday and Tuesday of next week, is a religious play written round the scenes surrounding the Crucifixion,, which the Christian Church will commemorate very shortly. The play is from the pen of Robert Hugh Benson, one of a trio of talented author brothers, the sons of a former Archbishop of Canterbury. Active rehearsals have been proceeding for some time under the capable direction of Veronica Lacey. In addition, verse-speaking items are to be given by Maria Dronke, a gifted artist who first appeared in Wellington last month when she gained many encomiums for her dramatic abilities. The Basilica Male Choir will supply the music incidental to the play. This opportunity to witness a religious play does not often come1 to Wellington theatre-goers and crowded houses are in prospect. The box plan is at the D.I.C. •, . .
