ATTACKS ON NEUTRALS

DANISH REACTION

SPIRITED REPLY TO NAZI PRESS

"«SK&

(Britis* Official Wireless.)

(Received February-9, 11.40 a.fn.) RUGBY, February 8.

The Press gives attention to the spirited Press rejoinder from Denmark to the German attempts simultaneously to alarm neutral shipping by indiscriminate attacks at sea and to browbeat the neutral Press, which, ajecording to German protests, has given more prominence to the British report of the recent Nazi air raid on shipping off the English coast than to the German version.

Apposite comment is made on the subject of attacks on neutral shipping by the Copenhagen newspaper "Berlingske Tidende." It says: "what in Germany is regarded as a triumph for German arms is for Denmark only. too often a sad message of death to Danish seamen, pain and suffering to. Danish homes, and loss of valuable cargo ships. The German Press must thus not be surprised if events of the sea war receive treatment in the Danish Press different from what has been expected and if Danish public opinion reacts in a way not expressive of sympathy or admiration."
