£7,000,000 PROGRAMME

LONDON, Thursday Night.

The Canadian programme of wari expenditure was ..announced in Ottawa last night by the Minister of Trans- ■ port. He said that nearly £7,000.000 will be spent on submarine chasers, mine-sweepers, and parts for 4000 aeroplanes for the Empire air-training scheme. . He also disclosed that a Toronto fac- J tory making 12,000 machine-guns for the. Canadian and British Governments is about three months ahead in production. He added that about £2,500,000 worth of bombers and other aircraft had been ordered for Canadian home defence.

Seventy-one officers and about 200 men of' the Royal ,Air Force have how arrived in Canada to assist in the airtraining scheme.
